how old is the dvd player. it may not be able to read certain types.

If you didn't write it in DVD player compatible format, then it's just a file on the disk. Put the DVD in your computer and look to see if the folder video-ts is the first thing you see. audio-ts along with it is OK too. If that folder does not exist, or is buried deeper, it won't play as a DVD.

When I put it in and click on open I see two files, one says Highmat and the other is the wedding. Any idea?

I have been trying to do the same thing. I save my file as DV-AVI (NSTC) and I can't get it to play either. I think it may be because I tried to play it in a 360?

Just because you place the files on a DVD does not mean they can be read and displayed as a movie in a DVD player (x-box and PS2/PS3 included).

Like GWGuy said, the files/pictures to be played as a movie or slide show in a DVD player NEEDS TO BE encoded into a DVD movie format.

They key is when you put them in a PC and "Explore" the disk you will see two sub-directories; Video_TS and Audio_TS. You will not have anything in the Audio directory, but the Video_TS will be loaded with encoded files; the video and audio streams. This is what a DVD Player reads and displays the movie.

I got it!! I used movie maker on my sons comp. and it will let you do make the movie, put it on a CD etc. It let me put it on a DVDR also. But, to view it on a home DVD player, I need the software for it. I'm new to this so I didn't know that having movie maker was enough. I think the software is called Roxie something. Thanks for the help though. Just wish the software wasn't expensive.

And just as another heads up, in addition to what clevalley said, some -formats- of the actual DVDs themselves don't work depending on where you are trying to play them. For example, the PS2 has a ton of different versions, the first edition could not play +R or +RW dvds, to the latest editions being able to play them all.

No idea what xbox's terms are for that.
