Movie Quote

Ok, this is bugging me --- I just remembered a fragment of a line spoken in a moive, and I can't for the life of me remember where it comes from, who said, or why it's funny.

All I remember is someone, I think with a British accent says something like:

"They opened it up, and do you know what was inside? Three Portuguese fisherman.......*still* in their boat!".

I can't even find it on the Web.

Oh wow...that does sound familiar.

Hmm...John Cleese *maybe*?

I saw Rat Race this weekend, and the only good parts are where John Cleese is holding those ridiculous bets -- "Well, alright, now who had the coconut?" :roflmao: :killingme

Now that I think about it -- I think it might be "Crocodile Dundee" --- mainly because it's the kind of ridiculous story he'd tell. But I can't find it in any quote section.

I think you're right. When the buffoon "tour guide" friend of Mick's is talking to Linda Koslowski's character about the alligator that Dundee killed. Which was the reason that she was there..??

It's definately not from Jaws, and I'm 99% sure it's not from Crocodile Dundee

I'm not. But I can't PROVE it, either way. In fact, I'm not sure I got the nationality right - it might have been 'Filipino', in which case Dundee makes a more likely candidate. This is the same movie where he claims a funnel web spider can kill a man just by looking at him.

But I can think of at least one other thing - it's in fairly recent memory, so it's from a movie or TV show that has been aired on TV within the last couple of years. Mainly because, unless it's a classic line - I'd NEVER remember it.

It's still bugging me.

I'm always bothered by different movies where a non-flying person is up in the air with a flying one - like Superman or Peter Pan. They're often depicted with outstretched arms as though the mere holding of hands allows them to fly effortlessly - when it makes a lot more sense that they'd be dangling as though they were hanging from the landing gear of a flying plane.

I still think it was in JAWS - Captain Quint - he had a New England Mariners kind of accent.

Not to give a misleading impression of my childhood, which was pretty rich with experiences, I saw Jaws in the theaters 72 times in 1975 and 1976 (this was back when the matinee shows were $1.00), listened to a tape recording of the entire movie between 500 and 600 times, and transcribed the tape into a script format. I also wore out two very early Beta video version and one VHS version of the movie, and watch it on DVD once a month or so even today. So I think I can say with some certainty that Quint never uttered those words.

Yep - found an entire "Jaws" movie script online, final edition. The line doesn't appear. No comparable Dundee script. Oh well. One of those things that's just gonna bug me.
