Mr Softee Busted

Story
I wish they'd get the guy in my neighborhood.
Mr. Saucier said that the department was responding to noise complaints from residents, and that it might take days for agents to investigate. In the case of Mr. Vamvakas’s Mister Softee truck, he said, people had called with complaints, and agents responded quickly. But he said he could not determine how many other citations had been issued.

The article suggests he was less than truthful, huh?

I'm not sure I totally support this law. I agree that there are a lot of noise polluters in the city, but an ice cream truck? Why can't they just ask them to lower the noise level to 84 decibels, the level of a normal conversation? These ice cream trucks are trying to earn a decent living and it is a necessity for them to announce their presence in the neighborhood. So what's next, the church for ringing it's bells, or the garbage trucks picking up the thrash, or the emergency vehicles responding to fires/accidents.

I understand giving tickets to motorist who modified their car's/cycle's exhaust for the dramatic or the clubs who's bass can mess up your pacemaker from a distance. JMO

How about this? Have them broadcast on low power AM and households that have pavlonian responses to stupid repetitious music can keep a radio tuned to that frequency. The rest of us don't have to work out in our yards and listen to it.

How about the local mullah calling his worshiping faithful to prayer five times a day?

Does it come around more than once a day? I just can't see how it would be that annoying when we already have jet noise, fire trucks, cars pounding their bass, tuners with their stupid exhaust, lawnmowers, and leaf blowers. Why get worked up over an ice cream truck?

Don't you remember how great that sound was when you were a kid?

Ooops! I forgot, they didn't have trucks yet back then.

:lmao:

Well, it annoys me because it usually comes around about nap time in the pool.

And then there's the yappy broad. Compared to that, the ice cream truck must be a blessing!

I don't know, it just does and it makes me feel like a Scrooge or something, but it's so damn repititious and crappy quality that it's highly annoying. None of the other sounds bug me because they don't stop in front of my house for 10 minutes, probably. Yet, like you say when I was a kid I'd get pretty excited when I heard it a couple streets over.

Are you kidding? We have a total of four different ice cream trucks that come in our 'hood at LEAST three times a day. I think that they are making up for last year when the property management company would not let them in the complex.
