MSA assembly

Well, my daughter came home today telling me they had a game today.......Are You Smarted Than The MSA's. They also informed them that if they "fail" the MSA, they will fail the HSA which means they won't get into Harvard and their futures will be crushed.
They are being bribed with this.....if you show up each day you receive-
Day one- a bowl
Day two- a spoon
Day three- ice cream
Day four- whipped topping and sprinkles.
They sang "It'a fun to take the M-S-A's" to the YMCA tune.
They played "Get your head in the game" from HSM during lunch.

My daughter has been told they will get "smart water" to drink during the test. They'll also be given gum because that makes you smarter. She's pretty sure it's just flavored water, and the gum doesn't work.

She still believes in the Easter Bunny, but not smart water. Go figure.

Actually smart water is nothing more then regular water. It's the brand I believe. They give it out there every year. They also get different snacks each day. My daughter was told they get the gum because it's good for your brain because the chewing gets your flow going

Our school is giving out a ticket for each day and if you receive all four they are taking them to the movies next Friday.

At least the HSAs, I'm not sure about the rest. But Maryland changed the rules. Basically, now, if the whole school fails - it's still on the students.

Which school does your daughter go to? It sounds for sure like they're in Charles County - but I'd like to know what school made that remark about failing it means they'd fail the HSAs as well.

I don't know about all the schools, but I know it was really a last minute thing over there.

I actually think Stoddert's a really good school, all things considered.

Me too. I have no complaints so far. I was really worried about her going there but I've been impressed. She is doing great ande they have alot of special things for students that excell. She is going on a special fieldtrip soon.

It's a great enviroment. I love working there.

I like that everybody is so involved over there. The middle school ages really are the most difficult for kids - that's when they're starting to mature and their emotions are starting to really take in. Stoddert, between having the Community Center and all, has a very unique way of encouraging student participation. They really help make new kids to the area and new students feel comfortable as well.

I personally wish I had gone there for middle school instead of Somers. They didn't do shiat when I went there. Moved to this area from South Florida in the dead cold of winter and absolutely hated it. And, the school didn't do a lot to really make me feel welcome there. I just hate how most of the schools around here make all the new kids feel like just another number.

St. Marys school, told the kids to make sure to be there everyday and to bring in your own snack and drink.
