A lawyer who pleads his own case has a fool for a client.

I bet he is going to babble on about all kinds of non-sense during his trial. Just think, this is costing the tax payers over a million dollars.

Maybe Ken King can help me with this:

I'm all fired up about that split-personality rapist kid who's lawyer got him off, then he proceeded to kill a girl. Then I turn on the TV and have to listen to these lawyers who are furiously trying to get the Malvo boys off.

I just don't understand this.

I'm all for a fair trial but these guys confessed. There are witnesses and physical evidence. What kind of slimy scumbag of a lawyer would defend two sh*tballs that killed so many people in cold blood?

Public defenders, whose job it is to defend people who otherwise wouldn't have a lawyer. If the lawyers don't do their best job, then the conviction will get overturned on appeal for "incompetent counsel." I'm sure those PDs were told to do the best job they could to avoid that.

No, these are not public defenders. As Vrai put it, these are slimeballs. Public defenders were replaced a long time ago. Sorry for no link, it was a while ago, but each of Mohammed's (sp) lawyers are career ambulance chasers. One is a big shot from Cali.

Malvo actually has a credible team. He has one lawyer that specializes in death-penalty defense as has a very good record of getting his clients off, not off the charges but off the death penalty.

Just got a little more on this...

Here's the deal. Muhammed attorneys Peter Greenspun and Jonathan Shapiro are both "court-appointed" which means you both are kinda right. While they are not public defenders flat-out, they did put themselves on what is called a Court Appointed Attorney List or CAAP. The judge then picks attorneys to defend big-time cases that the public defender's office just can't handle, and matches the best attorneys from that list with the defendant.

So I guess they still are slimballs, because they do have to physically put themselves on that list.

Not sure about Malvo.
