A *compass* that points to Mecca? Are they delusional?

Aside from the fact that regular North Pole compasses don't point directly north the world over - because magnetic north doesn't correspond exactly with geographic north pole - Muslims also pray towards Mecca in the most direct line. For example, Muslims on the east coast of the United States would pray in a northeasterly direction, as it is the most direct path to Mecca owing to the shape of the Earth.

The only way they could create a compass to Mecca is if Mecca itself sent forth a signal that directed compasses worldwide. Otherwise, any Muslim who doesn't travel extensively always knows which direction to pray.
