Muslims in the news

Two things on the news as I was driving into work:

Muslims attacked each other on Ashuria, which is a big Shiite holy day. 39 people were killed.

:roflmao:

Those wacky kids!

The second was a story about how some Islamic doctor in Great Britain is calling for Muslims to not vaccinate themselves or their children against measles, mumps, etc. The reason is that the vaccinations contain "unclean" animal or human tissue and are against Islamic law.

I say great idea and what's the problem? If the religious nutties want to exterminate themselves with some disease that is easily prevented, be my guest.

That was mean :smack:

I couldn't care less about Muslims in general - my concern is with the radicals. I think, realistically, we know that most Muslims (American ones, in particular) are going to have their kids vaccinated like normal, Islamic law or no Islamic law.

And I think we also know that Muslims are capable of living with those of different beliefs just fine, and I have only to point to our beloved US of A as proof.

My concern is that the Lefty anti-war nutjobs do not seem to be taking the radical fundamentalists into consideration, and seem to think that these loose screws are just normal, good people practicing their religion of peace. I suspect that most modern Muslims are alarmed at this sort of thing as well.

My dearest board momma, :huggy:

I will quote you (not verbatim). "
If the Muslims living here don't condone it and are against it, why don't they speak out the same way we do when one of our own is guilty of something? (Abu Gharib)"

I'm starting to rethink that philosophy. I have black friends who aren't Panthers or whatever, and they think Sharpton and the race baiters are a joke. They don't actively protest and run around denouncing these people at the top of their lungs for the same reason *I* don't do that sort of thing - no time and lack of inclination.

It doesn't mean that they condone the behavior of those who proclaim to speak on behalf of all blacks - it's just that it's not part of their life and they don't feel that it has anything to do with them.

So I'll suggest that mainstream Muslims are pretty much the same way.

Ahh, but public schools aren't allowed to discriminate on the basis of religion. So if a person's religion forbids them from getting vaccinated, NOW what are the little bureaucrats going to do?

:roflmao:

In fact, I hope with all my heart that some Muslim presses this issue because the touchy-feely schools have backed themselves into a corner and it would be highly amusing to watch them squirm.

Well said Vrai. To the British doctor telling people not to have thier kids vaccinated. If he kept up with medicine he would know that nowadays alot of vaccinations are made of synthetic product(manufactered in the lab) Secondly, He happens to be the groowing trend in England following the Wahabi sect which is really hanbali school of thought to the extreme. Wahabism is followed in Saudi Arabia...which in my opinion is NOT ISLAMIC. Saudi Arabia itself doen't follow islam the way it is precribed. namely KING not allowed in islam. This doctor is a pure bred wahabi who wants his 5 minutes of fame. Well, he got it and now he needs to crawl back into his brimingham, leeds, manchester or south london neighborhood(where the extremists tend to live).

:yay: Well said. I know too many decent black people. I'm just sick of the Al Sharptons.

Let 'em sit side-saddle. Problem solved.

So happy Vrai started this thread because I run across these stories a ton a day and my expressions are always..well, there's not one here that fits...
I can't imagine phoning my Mom while I am pinching one. Why would anyone want to disrespect their god by praying while squeezing one out?
