It is called THREE NOTCH ROAD where Golden Beach road is. It is not called Point Lookout Rd until it splits off at the wawa in Mechanicsville.

Really? Maybe it's me, but I'm pretty sure that stretch of road is referred to as Maryland State Rt 5. Maryland State Rt 5 is more commonly referred to as Point Lookout Road, until it splits in Mechanicsville. If you follow the split to the right, it's Point Lookout Rd, if you stay straight, it's Three Notch Rd.

Did you notice on the map that you posted when you zoom in it lists the Northbound lane as Point Lookout Road and and Southbound land as Three Notch Road. :lmao:

I just went back and looked at it and there is even a section that is called Waldorf Leonardtown Road. Once it gets into Charles County it is showing as Leonardtown Road, Which I think is correct.

Yeah, it's weird like that. The split in Mechanicsvlle defines the split though. Even 235's wikipedia says that it runs from Oraville to Ridge.

I think the way it is supposed to be is Leonardtown Road in Charles County, Then it turns into Three Notch Road in St. Mary's until the Wawa / Halfway House split and Point Lookout Road starts there and heads all the way to Point Loookout. Three Notch changes from Rt5 to Rt 235 and continues to the intersection in Ridge.

Well, using Google Street View, Rt 6 coming into St. Mary's shows the road as Rt. 5, not Rt 235.

It is Maryland Route 5, however the *name* is Three Notch Road from the split north to the county line. Once in Charles, it is still Maryland 5, however, its name is Leonardtown Road. Look in a ADC map book. Once Rt. 5 splits off south to the right at the wawa, it is still called route 5, however, the name changes to Point Lookout Road. Each road with a route number has a name as well
