If it is an organization like the Fire Department which does GOOD for the community, I have no problem supporting them in a manner like this.

When you are in need of them, they are there - and every little buck or two they pull in makes a difference...

Maybe because there arent enough people either donating to the fire department or attending the fund raisers and they have to take different measures to raise money. This is one cause I never mind donating to. Hughesville VFD comes to our house yearly offering coupons for picture portraits in exchange for donations. I happily give.
Thank you very much:smoochy: we appreicate your support. Please smile for your picture.
Im not sure about it and could be wrong, but the volunteer rescue squads (the EMS Stations) in St. Marys County do not get any funds from the county, the fire departments do, but not the EMS stations they are independent from the fire departments except Valley Lee.
So they need to raise funds through donations, fund raisers, bingo, dinners you name it and they have proably tried it.
Maybe the forum member from Hollywood Rescue Squad (think its Mackro) could clear this up about funds from the county.

Maybe Mechcanicsville had to pay off the towing bill for the ambo that took to off-roading last Friday morning.:lmao:
Love you all at Co29, keep up the good work.

Well lets just hope they never run out of gas coming to your house..... I seriously doubt 5 dollars would have made you bouce checks in your checking account. I am low on my funds, but I realize there is always someone worse off than me. I dont dontate to too many causes, and if I happened upon a fire department seeking donations via "the middle of the road", I would think, they really needed money and I would think of what it is that I could do without this week and at least pull out a twenty and give it to them.

I want them to make it to my house if I ever need them, and I want their truck full of gas because we live in rural area and there are no fire hydrants, so therefore they will have to go the lake to fill up each time they need water, so I pray that there are more people out there like me and not like you jjsmommy99 because I seriously would like them to have a full tank of gas among any other things that require our fire department to run.
I would think if they ran out of gas on the way and a house burned down because they didn't fill up the truck the volunteer chief should kick the volunteer gas pumper guy right in his volunteer ass and tell him he can't ride on the truck anymore.

The rescue squads do not receive any of the county fire tax

I saw them. I donated too. But I had to wonder, with traffic around the Farmer's Market on a Saturday afternoon, not only if, but how long until one of them would become the victim of an accident, instead of a responder.

Perhaps they were doing double duty... fundraising AND drumming up business...
