I was wondering why we pay some of the highest state income tax, highest property tax and even a county income tax, yet we still have volunteer emergency services?

Because if you didnt have volunteers your taxes would be zillions of dollars more to pay for salaries and to buy all the equipment.

So they used the money they are supposed to spend on fire/rescue and use it someplace else because of the good deal volunteers. Now if the volunteers stop or slow down they have to tax even MORE!

This sounds like the mortgage crisis. When a person makes a stupid fiscal move they are stupid, when the government does it they are democrats.

Did anybody see memebers of the MVFD panhandling at the intersection of Golden Beach Road and Route 5 on Saturday? Kind of find this a tad ridiculous....almost like they are begging like vagabonds. All they needed was a "God Bless You" sign written on a piece of cardboard! Stick to other fundraisers instead of bothering people on the side of the road for a buck!

Perhaps you can donate some of that money you've been saving from eating off of the damn kiddie menu.
