My Dog

My dog keeps licking where one of her dew claws was removed before we even got her and I noticed it was almost a dark pink. I can't even see the other side where he dew claw was removed. I also can't see anything in it but she also won't let me near it either when i get near it she growls at me. What should I do? I am thinking about calling the vet to see if we can bring her in to get it checked as all she wants to do is lick lick lick that one spot.

She growls? A puppy? Forgive me for saying so, but I think you've got big problems with that dog.

no i don't have big problems with her. we are working out her issues as we speak. The vet said she is just a puppy and shes going to bite and be rambunctious and stuff like that. I think shes got something in her spot where her dew claw was (we have a tons of cactus in our backyard and think shes got a thorn in there but it can't see it). I will get my stepdad to look later as he might be able to see something I can't see as my sight isn't great anymore.

The way you describe her growling at you is not typical puppy behavior. If it were my dog, I'd be very concerned.

we are concerned catt. We are going to make her a vet apt today for tomorrow if we can get her in.

Yep it sounds like that puppy has the upperhand and I agree w/your statement about being concerned. Evidently the "training" that it has been receiving has not been working.

My concern is that it's a Saint...a very docile breed to begin with. All that flipping over and people yelling, etc. it seems as if the poor pup is acting out.

Catt I have only flipped her 1x and i don't raise my voice at her i say no in a stern voice. She is being so good today though no yelling needed lots of praise has been given today . when she bites me (playing) I say no bite. I have also never one day in my life hit this dog just have tapped her on the nose a couple times hwen shes been being very very bad. I hate hitting animals (I am a true animal lover) if I could I would let this dog go to bed with me at night and sleep next to me til the morning but shes not allowed upstairs the downstairs is hers and she sleeps in a crate at night as she can't be trusted to not come upstairs (this am I woke to her crying as she needed to go out i rushed back upstairs and got dressed as quick as I could to get her out so we didn't have a mess in the house (she hasn't had an accident in a long time inside). This dog is basically mine because she is always with me if I stay home she is here if I go to my stepdads store she is with me the only time she isn't with me is if i have a doctors appointment or something like that. The bad thing is she thinks i am part of her pack.
