My Eyes - My Eyes!!

Anyone familiar with the MED125 plan? Specifically if there are any eye-doctors who will bill me for goods and services rendered and will wait for my 125 to kick in before they get paid.

Obviously with the move we're making, we don't have any spare money (until we settle on the house, but that's too late), and I am due for an eye-test and new glasses... Plus I have about $2300 stored up in my 125 which is due to go to right down the shitter in about 48 hours.

Everyone I've called says they want money up front, no exceptions. I don't have the money up front.

WHAT'S WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE!!!

I need a 125-Friendly doctor.

Anyone?

1.Is it possible that the $125 is your deductible?

2. Have you spoken with the company that administers your 125 plan?

3. Doesn't seem fair that you going to lose your plan savings, not transferable? If not, I schedule some health corrective maintenance before it's gone.

Good Luck

He stated that he needed an eye exam and glasses. don't think that is going set him back $2300.00

his plan is called the 125 plan.....as I understand his post.......he is looking for a dr. that uses the 125 plan....because he is quitting his job in 48 hours and the funds available within his 125 plan will no longer be usable. So he wants to get his eyes checked with those funds and not his own-cause he's a little :nomoney: himself. Problem is; he can't find such a quack..and has therefore asked for assistance with that.

No, MED125 is the name of the plan. I put in a few bucks every payday and I'm covered for incidentals that are not covered under my "real" medical benefits. Things like eyeglasses, orthodontic work, (not sure if cosmetic surgery qualifies...).

Anyway, I've used it before. I pay the eye doctor and buy the glasses, and then I turn the receipt into HR here, and they reimburse me for all of that.

Well, right now, I ain't got the upfront scratch. And unless I can find someone who will wait until next friday to get their hands into my pocket, I'm going to lose 2300 Dollars-American.

I'm going to lose most of it anyway - it's down the same endless void where all insurance money goes - but I'd like to get *something* out of it.

Yes. Waiting to hear back.

I have no idea whether it's transferrable or not. I'm waiting to hear back from my HR person. I tried to get them to just put the entire 2300 on my next paycheck along with my cashed in vacation time, etc... but the long rubber-gloved hand of the IRS prevents that from happening.

I have no idea. I'm waiting to hear back from Human Resources. But I was hoping to hear something sooner here.

Time to start making phone calls...

Excellent summary.

That is an exact play-by-play of the whole situation to date.

can't you just write a check ....:bouncebouncebounce:

Actually that's not a bad idea. I close Friday, so by then, I'll literally have money falling out of my ass; and it's not really a bounced check if the money is on its way...

I'll give you a karmabump when I have some to bump with.

My karma account looks like my checking account right now

Again Good Luck,

and if after dealing with the red tape, and you are un-able to make it happen. How about the following:

Not trying to offer up other peoples funds, but I'm sure the good Karma folks here at somd.com will be glad to take up a "fix toxics' eyes" fund.

You can think of it as a house warming gift from your forum homies.

I'll start the fund at $20.00.

Cheers

Well, I don't think we need to take up a collection just yet. Been working with Dr. Schwartzberg and my human resources trying to get glasses, while meeting their requirements, and getting money to meet HR requirements prescriptions going here, receipts going there, and advances and promises...

It's a complex and elegant dance, the likes of which I haven't seen in recent memory.

My guess is that in about 20 minutes this house of cards I've built is going to collapse under its own weight, and I'm going to be out $2300.

Ain't that about a #####?

Update:

Got me some glasses. Well.. I'll have them Friday sometime. I guess I have to pop into the eye doctor somewhere between closing, and long teary goodbyes with relatives, dinner, and somehow getting the ninjae some nap-time.

Bonus: The bill was in excess of $1100 for three pairs of really nice glasses.
