My first try at Water Droplets

I am happy with the results for a first try but i sure learned a lot. All my shots were underexposed and i had to bring them in PP. Also I used a Macro lens and i didn't get enough depth of field, this also made it hard to get a good focus. I will give it another go soon.

This one was with a milk drop into the water

Methodically disorganized
That milk shot is wicked cool. :yay: I like the narrow DoF as it gives a seamless foreground to background.

with flash set down to 1/32 power.

Again, they were about a full stop underexposed so i need to do a little tweeking on them

Very good. We have tried several times and after a few times we got the hang of it some what....lol! We just purchased macro filters to help with our shots.

Few more questions..

Tripod? Any other lighting other than ambient and the flash? Flash Reflector?

beautiful pictures, would like to try my hand at it.

I used the tripod and shutter release. You don't need the shutter release but it makes it easier.

Only my 430 flash on the camera pointed at the background so it reflects on the water to give the color. You don't want much ambient light, you use your flash to stop the motion. Too much ambient light and you will see blur.

That's about it. It was easier to catch the drops then i thought but you will still take a bunch of shots to see all the little differences.

Good luck and post your results.

You're a LOON :)
LOVE the milk one.. Great job. All of these water drops make me want to give it a try. I haven't had my camera out for a long time.
