She's a special ed teacher and I love her with all my heart. BUT...

Yours truly here, I am one of those positions getting cut as a person who works with special education students. I am not just a number, my students are not just a number.
While I am fortunate and have some plans in place for personal job security, let this be clear: these budget cuts directly impact the most vulnerable students.
Call your reps both at the state level and federal level. Our special needs populations have the right to FAPE. Simple.

The question that needs to be asked is WHY is there a budget shortfall? What are they spending tax dollars on instead? I'm not going to comment on her post because it's filled with libtard teachers and other assorted libtard voters, and my friend is completely uninterested in politics. If I were going to comment I'd point out that her county has a significant illegal alien population and is a sanctuary jurisdiction. AND I'd point out that the Arapahoe County 2025 Budget total was $570 million for services to illegal aliens.

It's hard to not respond to this, especially with all the libtard teachers and special ed moms crying and all distraught. If I mention these simple facts, it will no doubt start a feeding frenzy because....Democrats. We're not talking about the brightest bulbs here or even slightly critical thinkers. And my friend is so nice I don't want to start a fight on her FB wall.

But now it's off my chest. :)

Trying to lead the horses to water....

Have you looked at the county budget? I'm curious what they're prioritizing over education.

That shouldn't piss anyone off, right? But I'll bet if any of them look at the budget, they'll come back and land all over me.

Send her an email explaining what you just said here.

I guess all the dope selling money didn't go to education.
I wonder where it is going here in Maryland. along with the gambling money. Maryland wants to become known for Marijuana factories. Where is that money going when they are taxed as farms instead of a dope growing industry.

The govt pulled a bait & switch on the voters. They promised if you voted yes the tax money would go to education. The money did go but the extra deposited amount put into the funding was subtracted from the funding. So education funding money was the same and the govt had extra $$$ to spread around on pet projects.

the govt had extra $$$ to launder and stick in their own pockets.

*fixed*

I'm old enough to remember that increased cigarette taxes were sold to the public as going for education, and yet MD schools are still strapped.

Was in Denver last week, didn't smell it unlike driving thru the Park at 8:00 AM. Public transportation was clean as were the streets near Union station, midly suprised.

Without deep-diving into what's getting cut - that is, taking $23M and dividing it into 159, that's $145K ($144,654) per person.

That's more than I made as a GS-13-07 with 22 years of service.

Which is good money, even in this area.

I'm sure there is more nuance than simply dividing $23M by 159, but still. It does give you pause when you consider how chronically underpaid so many teachers (mainly through their unions) have long claimed to be.

Granted, I totally get locality pay. A teacher in Blue Hill, Nebraska probably doesn't have the same cost of living that a teacher in Evil DC (or example) does, all things being otherwise equal.

Virginia is doing the same thing. Spamberger made wonderful promises and reneged and changed tact 1st day in office.
The Satanic Bible (maybe) that she swore the oath on hadn't even cooled off before she started signing bills going against everything she swore she wouldn't do.
