My insomniac 2 year old

This falls under the category of "Things no one taught me before I decided to raise a child". I put the little girl to bed at 8:30. She was tired, and seemed to go right to sleep. But she has always been one to lay in bed and talk to herself and her stuffed animals for an hour or two. And she's got a bit of a cough, which I think woke her up about 15 minutes ago.

So tonight was a new variation. I saw the cats nosing around her door, so I knew she was up and wandering around. Then I heard, "Toot!" She had started playing her recorder. :killingme

I could not figure out whether to go in there and tell her to put it down & go to bed, or just let it ride and let her go to sleep on her own. Couldn't even consult with Mama, since Mama is doing her best to sleep through the current pregnancy.

The noise seems to have stopped now. I'll ask her what song she was playing tomorrow.

My 3 year old does the same and most of the time I leave her be and she sacks out on her own. So long as she is safe and you have no worries about baby hurting herself she will be fine. I do however keep her door cracked just enough to spy on her because I am a worrier that way. :lmao: Good luck with it. One lesson you need to learn is no noise toys in the bed!

I left her alone. I'm not sure what time she really fell asleep. She was godawful tired this morning when we woke her up to go to daycare. Maybe if she doesn't nap too long this afternoon she'll get back on track tonight.

my 2 1/2 year old son has to have his little green tractors, Thomas the Train, and one monster truck in the bed with him. He takes his blanket and covers them up before he too goes to sleep. In the morning it's a production of saying good morning to the toys as he uncovers them! :lmao:

My 2 year old was up several times last night. Nothing like be startled by a "hi mommy" at 2 a.m.

She too has the stuffy nose going on.

Are you living my life??? Good lord! That is exactly what my 2 year old is doing! GOOD LORD! She has a nasty cough and stuffy nose. Everything in your post is the same except she keeps crawling in bed with us- and I am not pregnant.

I dont know how to get her to stay in her bed. She screams bloody murder if I put her in her bed in the middle of the night.

I have an almost 4 year old who is driving me crazy by getting up at about 515 to 530 EVERYDAY! Goes to bed at 800 and takes about an hour nap to hour and a half because he cant go all day because he is up to early. How do i keep him in bed until at least 600??

If it's convenient, why not keep him up a little longer at night? That should re-set his sleep clock.

You don't have kids do you? Doesn't matter if mine goes to bed at 8:00 or 11:00. I don't use an alarm clock, she is mine! 5:40 - 5:45 everyday.

I'm looking forward to the teenage years, payback are hell :lmao:

Last night was great. She stayed up, and slept in, late all weekend. But we skipped the nap yesterday, and she was out like a light promptly at 8pm. Didn't hear a peep out of her room.

I hate letting her skip a nap though, she had an emotional meltdown around dinner time. Grouchy little kid.
