My mother of the year award.....

will not be coming. My oldest told me this morning that she didn't feel good. I didn't buy it. First day back to school and all, just an excuse. I told her to go and if she was sick they'd call me. So I get the call. I very hesitantly go get her. Tell her she is staying in bed all day and all that good stuff so she knows this is not just a free day. Well, we walk in the door and she proceeds to puke all over the place. Yeah, my awards not coming now.

One of these days it will come to you. I know when my son is making stories. When he says he's sick he usually isn't fibbing. Good luck mommy! Hope she feels better soon.

 Thanks, I do feel better! She says that she feels bad alot, and I tell her that if she is still sick at school they'll call me. I never get a call. I guess today was just my lucky day!

Saturday, we go to Cracker Barrel for breakfast. Daughter wants cereal. She takes her first bite and says it tastes like soap. My wife tastes it and says it's fine. We're all finishing breakfast, and I notice she didn't eat the cereal. I smell the milk and it's sour.

Poor kid, but you don't have to worry about competition from my wife for Mommy of the year.

Interesting. I went to the Cracker Barrel near Williamsburg a couple of weeks ago. I ordered a large skim milk, poured it from the little cartons into the glass, and took a big swallow. :barf: It had expired 4 days earlier. :dead:

Fortunately, I didn't get sick and my meal was free. :yay:

I didn't drink milk for years when I was little due to drinking sour milk once. Now I check the expiration date on everything, it's surprising how close to expiration a lot of stuff in the grocery store is.

I have a thing about drinking sour milk...I never have, and don't intend to. If the milk even smells slightly off, I pour it ALL out.

Don't feel bad I did the same thing to my son and he threw up at school. He said his stomach was crampy and I was like your be fine. I felt so bad when I found out he was really sick. He is a teenager and I figured he just didn't feel like going to school.

I have learned that when my son says he doesent feel good hes telling the truth. A lap full of vomit on two occassions has convinced me he knows what he is talking about.

How's this for "Mother of the Year"? I'm "mothering" my youngest brother for the week, and with everything going on, I just realized this morning that I don't think he's taken a shower since we got back. :lmao:

Well, because what you are looking at is a "Sell BY:" date, not an expiration date.. You can NORMALLY drink milk a couple of weeks beyond the sell by date without any problems. And the sell by date on meats and poultry can be changed, they inspect it, change the date, and NORMALLY reduce the price.

Our youngest has hygiene issues. I'll be like, "What is that smell? EMILIE! It's YOU!!!" With the other kids, once they turned 12 or so, I never had to tell them to take a shower or brush their teeth. This one, I have to keep on her.

He's 11, and a boy, and has always had to be forced to take a shower every night. I've been so caught up, and I'm not used to telling anyone over the age of 4 to bathe, so I just haven't thought about it.
