My neighbor's dog....

I know the correct answer to this is "it's none of your business, you can't change other people..." That said...................my neighbors have this adorable dog, sweet and friendly and seems very well behaved. They keep her (I think) outside ALL the time, sitting at the door, crying. The people right next door say it is the saddest thing to watch.

Why would you bother to have a pet and treat it that way. Wife DOES NOT appear to work, so I can't understand not letting her in for some attention during the day. I just watched her try to drag her back inside the fence and the dog rolled over on the ground, as if to say "would YOU want to go back there?"

So, I'm thinking of approaching them and asking if they would like some help finding a good home for her. Someone PLEASE stop me! I know she's fed and probably has some shelter, which is more than many have, but it really gets to me for some reason.

Why don't you just strike up a conversation with her and say "such a cute dog, if you are ever looking to get rid of it please let me know".

Thank you for the suggestion...and PLEASE keep them coming. She's not friendly like that, can't just walk up and start chatting, several neighbors have tried.:flowers:

I would say strike a conversation with her if she is outside when you are. She may not be easily approachable, but I would try to atleast talk to her. Tell her you may have someone intersted in the dog(eventhough you don't).
See what she says, if she gets nasty, I would just walk away and let it be.

Well, you could always hang out at the fence where the dog is until you get her attention, then go on with the "oh what a lubby wubby, sweet doggie, I'd give anything to have a dog like this".

some people are just against animals being indoors at all - which is fine as long as the person goes outside often enough to give the dog love and attention. the dog is probably only whining at the door for attention net because it just wants to be inside.

my dog will happily spend the entire day outside as long as i'm out there with him

My dog loves the yard as well, but when it was 100 degrees and the humidity was even worse......I know I'm out of bounds here, but it breaks my heart.:bawl:

Tunnel over in the middle of the night and steal the dog. Then, take said dog to Paso, who will dye it pink (or blue, or purple-your choice). Neighbor won't even recognize the punk-rock doggie. Problem solved. :yay:

the heart breaking part is: why would they have a pet if they don't intent to care for it and love it.

dogs should either be working animals or companion animals, not decorations.

I make my kids do things with our dog. He's an outside pup but I still make sure he comes in during bad weather and to get some people time every day or two.

He gets lonely when I"m at work or gone all day and it would not be fair to have a dog that is alone ALL the time.

Do you consider 90 degree heat bad weather?

I work in 90 degree heat on the regular:shrug: So do lots of other folks. Are you gonna tell me how cruel I am to have an animal that I don't treat like a child?

He's an outside dog and always has been, he honestly prefers the outdoors. He's got everything he needs.:yay:

The monster dog absolutely hates being inside. Hates hates hates it!! and makes it very well known that he wants to go back outside. I feel like an evil dog mommy sometimes cause he's outside, but that's where he is happy, barking at the neighbors, the ups man, eyeballing the birds and rabbits, mistaking turtles for toys and wallowing in dirt - all to my utter dismay. I drag him inside in the afternoon only to have him aggravate the crap out of me all night wanting to go back outside.

Thank goodness the other dog is a momma's boy and wants to be inside all the time getting snuggles and being brushed and sprayed with perfume. :lmao:

I talk to my neighbors that I see and have apologized for the monster dog, but everybody seems to be very understanding. I say talk to your neighbor, she could be shy and maybe it could set your mind at ease.

I agree with that.

My lab HATED to come in the house. Had to be dragged in and then begged to go out. She only asked to come in if it was a really bad storm.
Current dog wants to be wherever I am.

My lab hates the outside....normal routine for her....get up in the morning....go out long enough to go potty....get a treat....lay down....get up and move to cooler spot....lay down....get up and move to cooler spot....lay down....go out and go potty again....eat....get treat....go to bed

If it is raining and/or just stopped raining....You thought her whole world came to an end when you tell her to go out and go potty

My other dog....she likes being outside no matter what

I have two big dogs and two little dogs......they all love being out but they are all inside dogs. The big ones are black and can't stand too much heat and the little ones are just cute.....:killingme

sooooo they go out to do their business during the week and then stay out with me on the weekends but basically they are all in the house. They are all spoiled rotten and we consider them part of the family.....

exactly - heck I didn't have AC growing up, so why would my dog need it?

i try to keep mine outside as much as possible during the day for his own good - but he is crated inside at night.
