My new Babies

Well I am not sure if anyone read the other thread post about my chihuahua having puppies and the emergency vet didn't give me antibiotics. As a result, I lost 2 of the puppies rather quickly.

Here are a few pics of the girls that are now 6 days old. I can't wait to see how they will grow... They should be in the show ring later this year.

After hearing your name for the other ones, I'm stumped. :lmao:
But, they are really too cute. Thanks for sharing!

I'm sorry your lost your puppies, but have you seen the discarded 8 yr old female Chihuahua (bone skinny, scared to death, looks like bred to hell and back) at the shelter?

Rescuing her would be a great thing.

Emergency Vet

Which Emergency vet did you go to? If it's the one in Waldorf I had a similar problem about 1 1/2 ago. My Chihuahua was pregnant and in labor I take her in they say she's not in labor but for $2000.00 they will do a c section on her. Said she should be fine until in the morning. My husband and I drive all the way back home to Hollywood and when we get home Emma has her first puppy. A very sleepless night goes by I get up that morning she has another puppy but this one is born dead. So I go to my vet and they do a c section on Emma and one more puppy is born we had 2 very healthy puppies but if it had not been for the ignorance we would have had 3. I can tell you that I would not let them touch another animal of mine and long as I live.

K_K, are you able to rescue her? It would be great if you could.

I have 9 dogs at my house right now - 4 of which are fosters, of which none weigh less than 65 pounds

If I had room for her I would have pulled her. If there were more foster homes in this county we'd be able to save a lot more dogs, especially one's like this.

As most everyone knows my stance and gives me plenty of red karma for it - if you don't rescue what you breed, don't breed.

I believe Kids has rescues she is fostering right now. I have 9 dogs total now, five which were rescues. You keep acting like no one else is helping, that might be what some of your red karma is for. You aren't the only one out there that cares.

I know she does which is great, but I'm a firm believer that if you breed you should rescue what you breed. Pure and simple. She also said before that she could only foster dogs that she was sure wouldn't get her own dogs sick, fine I understand that as well. But she is fostering. Here is a dog, that is a breed of her choice, that I'm sure just died in the recent culling at the shelter.

I know I'm not the only one and I never try to say that, but everyone on here knows there are plenty of readers and posters that are still oblivious to what a severe problem there really is, not just in this county but nationwide.
I'm not arguing, many people do all they can, be it $$, fostering, emailing to help find homes, all that is helping the problem.

BTW, all the dogs at my house right now that aren't fosters are also rescues, that's all that has been in my house for the last 9 years.

Well that's great, you are doing your part as well. Now tell me, if you believe the dog that you mentioned is no longer available, why did you just mention to Kids, it would be nice for her to go rescue it? You did that before, put out a message that a dog needed rescued asap, and when people asked about it, it had already been PTS before your alert. It breaks anyones heart that cares for animals not to be able to help them all.

SMD, Don't worry. KK does this stuff to me all the time, but trying to make me out to be some terrible person, all the while with undertones. I don't care. I do practice what I preach, with over 9 in my house now that were rescued or are currently fosters. I know I do my part.

However, I can't take any more in right now. It's not feasable running the mom I almost lost to the vet and having an infection I am keeping her isolated for.. it wouldn't be prudent of me to bring any more dogs in right now.

I guess the only other question is why KK doesn't bring the dog into her home. No room? A chihuahua only weighs 5-6lbs so it's not like it takes up a lot of room. I can even lend you a small crate for it KK. She's constantly on everyone else about rescue and foster. If there was a chi in the shelter, I don't know why she didn't PM me or email me. It's not like this is a big town and people can't locate me at the bank. We can't save them all, now can we KK?

I personally can sleep at night knowing I do as much as I can, both for my breed and for all of the dogs. But I do not believe that KK has the right to force everyone to have the same belief as her. And I don't shove my opinions down others' throats.

That being said, KK if you want to have a polite and productive conversation about how to best save the chihuahua in the shelter, I will be happy to do so. But do you think it's wise to bring in a dog right now when I have 6 puppies under 8 weeks of age that could potentially die from an infection from another dog? I personally don't. Neither does my vet. And of those 6, 4 are the orphaned pups I rescued and am raising that I invested over $400 in supplies, food and formula alone, in addition to sleepless nights, time and evergy and I am happy to do it. So, I don't think you can find ANYONE on here to agree with you that I don't do my part.

And KK, in the same last 9 years, I have fostered or rescued plenty of animals too. It's not a pissing contest. But if you want to go head to head, this isn't the place for it. You can PM me and we can do so.

Back to the original post that I wanted to share my prides and joy after my heartache with others by showing you my new chihuahua babies. They have reached a week of age tonight and seem to be doing better. They started gaining weight and mom today is finally eating on her own. She's loving getting moist food and it's nice not to have to syringe feed her every hour like I was before.

Keep up the great work Kids! Those puppies are adorable! With those pups in the house now (plus the ones you are already fostering) you should be limiting their possible exposure to parvo and not bring anything new into the house as I'm sure you know, much less a rescue from the shelter. As for a name how bout - Kids One For the Money? Can't wait to see more pics.
