My old gal Roxana

Last night I told my old dog, Roxana, my beloved friend of 15 years, goodbye, I am so thankful for the time and life we had. It was especially hard in that she would have continued to live for more years just for me, but I could not continue to watch her struggle and fall while trying to walk.

Thank you to everyone who has given me encouragement and advice in dealing with a senior dog and thanks to those of you who loved her as much as I did. She was a faithful friend, one that took her job seriously in that mom was #1 on her list and tennis balls were #2 two.

She was found behind Walmart at age 9 weeks and I gave her away twice as a puppy, and each person returned her to me stating she was too rambunctious, thus making me decide to keep her instead of getting rid of her AGAIN. She had a thing for attacking trees and bushes, pulling them out of the ground and bringing them to you as a present. She loved to swim and loved catching a frisbee....all on her terms, of course. She trained many foster puppies and dogs in that she made it perfectly clear that she was in charge, and you weren’t and that it would cost you a nip if you didn't agree.

Thank you to all of you who love dogs. Rox thanks you.

So sorry for your loss. Sometimes doing what is best for them is the hardest thing for us. It sounds like you gave her a life full of love. My old girl is now 14 and her walk is getting slower and less stable. I dread the day I know is coming.:bawl:

No amount of words can convey my sorrow at your loss. She will be waiting at the "bridge" so that the both of you can cross to eternity.
