What is a good choice in paintball gun? Like he needs another. :duh: He's got the basic tipman at the moment.

I would love to convince him to get something other than a high dollar paintball gun.

It really depends on how serious he wants to be, atleast a few years ago when I was playing, the mini mag was one of the top guns out. I have a spider thats tucked away in a box with all my stuff somewhere (not the best, but decent), but that gun is to big to be running and ripping through the woods with, plus it dont hold many paintballs....

Psst, Otter. Be careful, this subject is likely to set her off again so be ready to duck and cover. :yay:
I'm too depressed and drained to get set off over it anymore. :bawl:

I think the bigger problem is that the paintball gun looks too much like a real AK.

I would buy a kid (of appropriate age and maturity) a real AK and teach him how to handle and shoot it properly at the range but I would never allow him to go arcing around the neighborhood with this 'toy'. Begging for trouble.

:duh: My son doesn't go "arcing" (whatever that is) around the neighborhood with his current paintball gun thank you veydy much. :smack: His intent is to go play in the woods with his best buddy, and a whole group of boys. They've been doing it in the same area for years will full knowledge of all the parents and surrounding neighbors.

It's a moot point anyway, he's opted for the bouncy shoes. I agreed to the shoes IF he forked out the cash for all the standard safety equipment (helmet, pads, wrist guards etc.)

Oh, and P.S. His grandfather has his own personal shooting range on his property, so he knows how to handle a real firearm. :neener: :moon:

Don't want no trouble. :flowers: Just trying to think ahead about what a cop would think and act upon if he sees a kid coming out of the woods carrying that weapon. I loved the good old days of playing 'Cowboys and Indians' (now known as 'Imperialistic Conquerers versus Native Americans') with semi-realistic guns, but realize those days are past.

I must be getting old, but I don't understand the appeal of the 'bouncy shoes'. I would rather search out one of the old motorized pogo sticks invented by this nutcase and made by Chance Manufacturing.

Produced by the Chance Manufacturing Co. Wichita, Kansas about 1970, the 'Hop Rod', as it was called, had a built-in one cylinder engine with a spark plug at the top and a four ounce gasoline tank within an attached carburetor at the bottom. Weighing 15 pounds, the 'Hop Rod' could carry a load of up to 280 pounds. When the rider hopped onto the stick, a piston compressed the gases in the engine's combustion chamber, boosting stick and rider into the air. When they hit the ground again, the engine re-fired, boosting them back up. With no weight on it, the Hop Rod stopped operating. It could run for about 30 minutes - the equivalent of 600 'hops'- on 4 ounces of gasoline. It sold for $70.

I have to agree with Tiki, look alike toy guns are absolutely stupid, paint ball or not. They can very easily be mistaken for a real firearm by a land owner or law enforcement and a very real tragedy can happen. Sometimes familiarity with firearms can lead to a cavalier attitude, just ask any cop if has know another cop that has had an accidental discharge. I know my bother in law knows plenty...law enforcement in NY state.

You watch too much liberal television. And let's not get in to the gun debate. It simply amazes me how I was able to grow up in a community with firearms (loaded even :yikes: ) laying around in every household and no one managed to get a "cavalier" attitude towards them.

I have no issue with him having a toy gun that looks real, what I have a problem with is the cost.
