My wonderful dog

Yesterday I baked a cake for BF birthday. After dinner we went downstairs. When I realized the dog wasnt with us, I went back upstairs and she's laying looking sick as can be. Sure enough she ate half of the cake. How sick will eating all that sugar make a dog?

Expect projectile vomiting. Please tell me it wasn't chocolate cake. Baking chocolate is a killer to dogs.

Then I predict barfing and lots of it. Hopefully there won't be any sort of diabetic reaction to all that sugar. Poor pup.

I would give him a big bowl of milk to help wash it down. Imagine how you would feel after eating half a cake without a big glass of moo juice.

Hope the dog is okay. When Otter and I got married, we had our wedding cake in a spare bedroom the night before the wedding. The door to the spare room didn't latch quite right, and unless you were used to it, you may not get it right. My dad was watching my son while Otter and I ran last minute errands. I told my dad NOT to go in that room. Well, apparently he did. When we got home the door was ajar and half of my wedding cake was gone. Luckily for me, the cake was done by a local private baker and she worked late into the night but fixed it and nobody knew a thing. Oh yeah, the dog was fine...no barfing or anything. It wasn't chocolate.

Thats Welsh for fox.
When I was a kid our dog ate red and blue icing wrapped up in plastic (yes he ate the plastic too). No idea were he got it. Of course he got sick in the most conspicuous spot in the living room and we could never get the stain out.

I'd think that if the cake thief hasn't already puked, expect lots of trips outside and/or lots of carpet shampooing.

I'd also have the Pepto on hand. I know the strength for my girls, check with your vet for yours.

She's at home by herself for the day. She didnt get sick last night. I am just hoping I am not it for too much of a surprise when I get home..... Worst Case - I dont like the carpet and wanted new flooring anyways

Mily has a gut of steel I swear. She got up on the kitchen table (and yes I mean all 4 paws on the table) and ate most of a strawberry cake. Didn't do a thing to her.

When I was in high school my mom's Min Pin would eat cigarrettes that were left within reach.

My old JRT ate a pack of glitter crayons and had different colored sparkly poop. I learned from the vet that crayon shavings are a good house breaking aid for people with more then one pup. They're non toxic so you put different color shavings in each dogs food and if someone goes in the house you'll know who it was by the color of it.

*crossingmyfingersforyou* do you live close enough to work to run home at lunch to check on her? See if the little cake thief is hanging in there okay? and maybe put her in a bathroom with something comfy? Or would that stress her out even more?

I have had a long line of mischievious "kids"... My ex has our huskies, which are known escape artists and food thiefs and I currently have malamutes, that love them some sugar... So, I am no stranger to trying to keep abreast of these situations, but not always succeeding. I have a steam cleaner and spot cleaner on every floor to say the least! and Pepto! Always Pepto!
