Myelitis?

I took my husky to the vet today and she asked if I had noticed the shape of his head.. she said the muscle in his head was deteriorating but that it wasn't painful and common with certain breeds at middle age (huskies/g. shepherds). Has anyone had experience with myelitis? Did it start in the head and move down to affect the nervous system? From what I'm reading it affects the CNS and you can see weakening in the hind legs, but so far I haven't.

I saw one case of this about 10 years ago. Friend of mine had a huge rottie that had it. Very sad to watch the deterioration. The big square head turned rather pointy as he lost his muscle mass and it did affect his CNS. He had to be put down within a couple months after diagnosis. Sorry, don't mean to be Dr. Dread.
