reaches Mach 7. NASA's second X-43A hypersonic research aircraft flew successfully today, the first time an airbreathing scramjet powered aircraft has flown freely.

I'm guessing that the X-43A was piggybacking on the Pegasus launching rocket to get the scramjets going

makes me wonder about the Aurora.

But if they have already had the technology...why go through all the testing of the scramjet and the X-43 :shrug:
