NASCAR Trial

So, the NASCAR trial has been going on for almost two weeks now. Based on the pundits, It sounds like it is not going well for NASCAR. (I've been watching Keeny Wallace's YT channel since MSM doesn't seem to be interested.) A lot of dirty laundry is being exposed. Personally, I'm glad that MJ has the FU money to take NASCAR on.

Plus, I recently discovered that IHRA is getting into "stock" car racing.

What is everyone's thoughts?

I don't think i've watched nascar since Dale Earnhardt raced...but everything I do see about it seems to be centered around spoiled drivers throwing tantrums.

:sshrug: Quit watching when NASCAR fined Jr(who I don't like) for cussing over the radio. All their fiddling with rules/whatever ruined it for me.

In more ways than one.

Daytona Speedway's land is worth more for its development potential than as a speedway. NASCAR can sell its tracks, and the entire Cup series will be run on road courses. :(
F the cookie cutter mile/half tracks that NASCAR owns. Plenty of tracks that NASCAR doesn't own. They can always go back to their roots and race all the small tracks dotted around the SE. NASCAR doesn't own those.

Absolutely. Bubba and Denny can race for $5,000 to win at Hagerstown on Saturday nights.

Michael Jordan didn't win crap in this suit, and has never contributed a thing to the sport, but he surely just F'ed every driver in the sport.

I love what IHRA has said they are starting up. Something that resembles as closely as possible the "early days" of NASCAR with small garage teams competing with engines that really are "stock based".

The SEGA has had remarkable success and growth using a similar formula for drag racing and running on small-town 1/8-mile tracks.

If I may ...
For your consideration ...

Now, if they would add top fuel, (Nitromethane) funny cars and dragsters to compete with the NHRA, that'd be pretty cool.

speaking of NHRA....MIR is finally a venue for one of their events next year.

The astronomical cost of racing is something the IHRA tries to tamp down. Those you mentioned are the most expensive...phenomenally so. The HP numbers they achieve these days are mind blowing.

I'm genuinely interested of why you think the drivers got f'ed. Charters are permanent. NASCAR has to share the wealth with the teams.

I fully believe what's left of the France family doesn't share Big Bill France, or Bill France Jr's love for the sport. They will start selling off bits and pieces, and unless Penske, Hendrick, or Dale and Kelley buy NASCAR it's going to be rudderless and die a slow death, and the drivers will suffer the most.

Steve Phelps has screwed the sport so severely with his push for diversity and foolish schemes that it can't be resuscitated. No POC has ever bought a ticket to see Jordans driver, and no POC are tuning in to see Bubba either. Kiss those TV rights revenue goodbye.

Rednecks built it, and only Rednecks can save it.

I wonder if they made the end of the track longer just in case a 330 MPH car cant stop..that is 1 of the reasons the NHRA never came to Bud's Creek
