Natural Gas (Henry Hub) is up another 9% today to above $6 / mmBTU. It was around $4.60 / mmBTU a little over a week ago. I suspect this price spike is temporary - the result of unusually high demand due to very cold weather in some areas and the basic nature of natural gas as being a commodity for which it isn't practical to store much such that there's a large enough buffer to easily accommodate short-term, but large, demand spikes.
Even if that's the case though, even if prices drop in a month or two, that won't help consumers that need natural gas in the next couple of weeks. Some people may be about to experience some sticker shock.
