Crews were doing routine maintenance on a boat when the blast occurred, according to a press release from the Navy Region Mid-Atlantic Office.

One person suffered serious injuries and required hospitalization. Seven other Navy personnel suffered what the Navy described as "minor injuries" resulting mostly from smoke inhalation.

One thing about the military, in this case, the Navy: When you have a constant mix of boats, fuel, weapons and explosives, accidents like this will happen. Hopefully, the damage is low and the injuries all heal quickly.

I've been to Earle, many years ago. I would imagine that a few people had brown issues to take care of shortly after the explosion occurred. :yikes: Earle is NOT the place where "boom" is ever an acceptable sound to hear.
