NeatDesk

Still doing research on it, but thinking of getting one for my dad to organize his paperwork.

It's on display at Staples.

Or maybe it was Best Buy.... I remember seeing it in one of those two this week.

I have a Fujitsu SnapScan which is more or less the same thing, just not dumbed down. That thing is f'in great.

Yes...it is wonderful! So easy to use! Going to make doing taxes this year so much easier. After I scan the receipt, I shred it...no need to keep all those receipts!

I wouldn't shred them. You can have an audit on your taxes for 3 ? past years. What happens in the event you have a computer hard drive crash and lose all your receipts?

After scanning, put the receipts in an envelope along with a copy of the tax forms you submit.

That is the beauty of using this...you can print the receipt out!

Not off your hard drive crashes. Of course, you could keep a copy on Dropbox or something similar.
There ya go!

Or you can create a zip folder and email it to yourself where it will be kept forever. I create folders in yahoo mail for this. You can also back it up to an external drive.

I like neatdesk. I think I'll get one.

I don't have $350 to spend right now, but I will soon. This looks like exactly what I need to help with my paperwork clutter.

I would think in case of an audit, you would have to show the actual receipt.
What would stop somebody from changing the receipt?

That's a good question. It would be pretty easy to Photoshop a receipt.

Which is why I said to save the originals.

Most people don't back their systems up locally, let alone a cloud drive, so having the original is a smart thing.

The Neat Desk simply helps you organize your paperwork into easily usable information.

The thermal paper that alot of store receipts are printed on is basically disappearing ink, cant tell you how many of those receipts I saved that went blank on their own.
