I'm hoping someone here can suggest a good marriage counselor/therapist.
If you don't know, maybe ask around for me please.
Haven't been tot he area very long.
Need something close to Pax River.
Any help would be great.

How about on Pax River - The Fleet and Family Support Center is an on-base social service agency whose goal is to improve the quality of life for the military member and family through counseling and assistance. The FFSC is the first stop for singles and families seeking counseling or assistance with a personal or family matter. FFSC's many free classes and seminars are also a great resource for self-improvement and Navy lifestyle education.

Located in Building 2090 on Bundy Road

Walden Sierra has counselors if you don't want to involve the military. You might have to pay but it would be worth it to keep your chain of command and the base chaplain out of it.

Honestly, we would rather not involve the military. I just feel it's 'our' problem and worry others would get involved.
I know Tricare will pay for any type of counseling, but the phone book gives me no real information, the Tricare site didn't help either.
My doctor on base said she could give me a list of approved places to go, just wanted a heads up on any good ones!

Walden does all types of counseling. I was in need of some direction during a personal crisis and they were exceptional. You definitely don't want the base mixed up in your personal business. Good luck to you.

You don't need to get the base/military involved as the Fleet and Family Support Center can provide you with a list of off-base agencies/organizations to meet the specific need you are looking for.

With Tricare, you get 8 visits that DO NOT require a referral. This allows you the opportunity to give a counselor a "test" run to see if you are comfortable with them and their "style" before you commit to them.

We have excellent advisors right in the forum, who have been there and done that, tell us what is the problem?

I'm sure there are good listeners on here, but our problems are many and something I don't want to share on a public forum....

Good answer. :huggy:

Just remember - you all just moved, he has a new job, the whole family is in a new location, little to no friends, limited access to varied things, and if you've gone from a fleet world to here, you are actually seeing him every single day instead of once a week. This is a period where you both have a lot of stress and difficulties, not to mention the kids are factors as well.

IMHO, they say marriage is 50-50, but they have never been married to a military man. It's 80-20 and a lot of burden falls on you. Patience and deep breathes. :flowers:

And you know what, if you want to meet for lunch or something one day, let me know.

1st, I just want to say Thank You! Offering to meet a stranger for coffee to listen/help them is amazing. I will actually let you know :)

We were having problems before we moved here. The move could've made it worse, just not sure. Actually, a neighbor of ours from NC just moved down the street 2 days ago. Very exciting & my daughters best friend is their daughter. Couldn't be better. She is a great friend and love her company, but I just don't share my marriage problems in depth with her. Our husbands works close, so worried about that. Some people just share everthing w/ their husbands... That most likely didn't make sense!

How do I find the number to FFSC?
I thought I found a great marriage counselor, but then found out they are located in Prince Fredrick. A little out of our way.
We both want this marriage to work, just scared it's too late!

It is never to late if you both want to work it out. Marriage is not easy at all. Being a military wife is one of the hardest jobs out there and adding kids into the mix you are mom, dad, fixer of fights, booboos and the decision maker all at the same time.

I see Dr. Drury in Leonardtown, she doesn't take insurance and I pay out of pocket. But she is my sanity check.
