Will be shopping tomorrow for a new washing machine. Any opinions on good ones to look at that won't break the bank? Thanks for your suggestions

I have a whirlpool front loader - not sure I'd get the same brand, but definitely like the front loaders.

To add: My coworker just bought one that acts like a front loader but fills from the top. Not sure what brand it was, but something else to look at :)

Maytag is the bomb!

I have their front load washer and dryer, super capacity size.

You'll pay for them, however they can do the job. Want to wash and dry large loads?

Done,(!) in about an hour and a half. Fold 'em up and put them back in the closet.

Next!

Ask if they have any floor models or "scratch and dent's" or returns. A lot of good deals on some that have a scratch on them that matters not or is even visible have been had.

And if you are paying in full negotiate. Be prepared to walk away if the price is not good enough.

Wish I was going with you. Buying bigger ticket items is fun. And not just in this environment. They are always willing to deal you just gotta be up front about it and be willing to walk away.

Good luck.

Look at the Maytag Bravos. Very nice and huge capacity but normal dimensions. No agitator, 70% less water and it spins them so fast that they are almost dry when you take them out. 20% less dry time. Sears has them on sale this week for $699 I think.

I heard bad things about Front loaders.
Stink..................

You have to keep the door open, when not in use to keep the mold and mildew from growing.
True?

Yes true..not a big deal to do so at all, it sure beats stinky moldy smelling clothes.

We have the maytag neptune washer and dryer's, no issues at all with the washer in the 4 years we have had it now..but the dryer drum has cracked 4 times on us and had to be replaced..3x while still under warranty...once while not and cost about $400 to fix. Supposedly they have reinforced the drum, we shall see. At the very least get a extended warranty on your dryer what ever you get..its worth it with todays upright dryers IMO.

We have the Maytag Neptune and love them! No issues at all! Would never go back to anything that wasn't a front loader! But....you need to get the stands for them to sit on, it's a must! Pricey, but well worth it!

That is a GE with Infuser technology, I have had mine for a year and its great. Works as good as a front loading machine, uses less water like a front loading machine but only cost half of what a front loading machine costs. Of course its not trendy and cool like a front loading machine:whistle:

there is a company on the web that is located in New York City called "A.J Madison" and usually can beat most appliance prices around here including lowes. I bought a stackable Frigidaire and saved over $100 including the trucking charge. I was a little scared of them at first glance due to all the scams out there although I have purchased a stackable and a range from them and have no complaints. some deals they offer include free shipping from manufacturer. just google A. J Madison I think it is ajmadison.com although dont have address handy.
