Help "Invisible Dogs"
Now this isn't exactly an easy search so I'll lay it on the line - there are two chained dogs that need help (I'm sure there are many many more).
One is here in St. Mary's County and he's been living on his chain for probably about 6 months. I met him and he's sweet but hyper, I haven't dog tested him yet so my first choice would be to foster in a home w/o other dogs or foster him in a home that has experience keeping dogs separated.
Here's some about him: Chopper - 4 yrs old, not neutered, behind on shots (my group will get all that taken care of), supposedly house broke, kid friendly and has "supposedly" lived with small dogs without a problem.
Fortunately the landlord won't allow an "outside" dog, which is actually in Chopper's best interest. Chopper is the light brindle dog.
The other dog is in Chesapeake Beach (Calvert), the previous owner abandoned him with a family that can barely care for themselves (legally blind and other has lupus). He has been well fed, but has NO protection (dog house), mostly mud in his water dish (I'm sure it's cleaned as they can). His chained is wrapped up with trash. A good samaritan took him home to try to keep him for a few days, unfortunately her neighbors raised a ruckus as he barked (anyway he had to go back to his chain thanks to the neighbors). Now this speaks for his temperment as she raises Yorkies, so for her not to be afraid to take him to her house, speaks volumes. The good samaritan walked him last night and spent time with him, her neighbors yorkie got out and the dog jumped in the truck to get away from the little dog.... Again, this dog isn't neutered either and shots are probably well past due, my group will take care of this guy too.
