Need Help With Feral Kitties

CandaceMM

Ummmmm ....
Hi all.

My mom lives in Waldorf and she's got a momma kitty in her back yard with three our four older kittens - and now momma is pregnant again. My mom does not want Oscar (the momma kitty) to become a baby factory. Problem is that Oscar is pretty feral and doesn't let anyone get close to her.

I told my mother that there are a few folks on this site that volunteer with animal rescues and I told her that I'd ask to see if anyone could help or point us in the right direction.

We can't catch Oscar or any of her little kitties because they're wild and don't care to be around humans. So, can anyone help?

Thanks in advance!

A live trap.

Or a shotgun.

Call Animal Control. We had a problem with feral cats at my place of employment here in Waldorf. They came out, set traps, and picked the cats up. Haven't seen any cats in the past 2 weeks

Quit picking your nose and capture them!

I just don't want to see these animals end up in a crappy shelter and euthanised ....

And mom lives in Waldorf .... I don't ... otherwise I'd do whatever I could to make sure that the kitties are taken to a safe place. My mom is pretty adamant about the cats being taken to a safe place.

Good luck. There are a TON of cats and kittens waiting for homes..shelters/rescues are full and then some. Best bet is to trap them and go from there with the advice that others have provided. Is your mom willing to assume responsibility for, say, just the mom? The kittens may have a shot at being adopted. If not, euthanasia is a far better choice than starving, dealing with wild animals and disease.

.22 caliber will work just fine. Anything bigger is hard to clean up.

Catt,

Mom has been feeding Oscar (the momma) because she's recognized that she's preggo and doesn't want Oscar to starve. Mom already has two cats that are inside cats and they don't really play nicely with other cats. They're extremely territorial and freak when ever my folks watch my keekee. So I think that adding Oscar to the family isn't really an option right now.

Then she really doesn't have a say in what happens to her/them unfortunately. Sad reality. Most of us that rescue end up with a few extras every year because there just aren't enough homes.

Your mom could provide shelter (even if outside) and food for the mom, after getting her spayed/vetted, which would be a huge help and let the rescues/shelter/whatever try to place the kittens.

I think she said her mom lives in Waldorf. I don't think STM animal control will assist. I don't know about the other numbers provided, but they are both STM numbers too.

Hm, yeah that info probably wouldn't do much good then. :ohwell:

Oh yeah, well forget the shotgun then but you better have good aim.
