Need help with hyperlinks

Default settings for hyperlinks will cause IE to automatically run. For instance, when clicking a hyperlink in an email or Word document IE should open automatically and launch that website. Something happened on my PC that this is not happening anymore. Can anyone help me with where this function can be turned back on?

Thanks.

First thing I would do is download FireFox.:killingme

Try this: IEFix Utility - Description

It just dawned on me... I think hyperlinks are trying to associate with Firefox rather than IE; but Firefox is no longer installed. I just wrote a hyperlink in a Word document and I get "No program is registered to open this file".

I've done some googling on this and so far turned up nothing. I suspect there is something in the registry that is causing this association. There are several entries for Firefox in the registry but I don't dare change anything until I know what I'm changing.

Any ideas here?

Well, one way to find out...

1. Open InterNet Explorer
2. Tools
3. InterNet Options
4. Programs
5. Select Internet Explorer (little box).
6. OK

Now, close and open InterNet Explorer.

Let me know if this works.
