You know how kids lick their lips so much they become extremely dry and chapped? Well I just found out tonight that my 6 yr old daughter is doing that to the back of her hands!! They are to the point she has a couple small areas that are broken open. I've never seen this. I asked her why but she says " I don't know. Sometimes they itch and it hurts to scratch". Could it be stress? I know you're skin can get dry in the winter and become itchy. Could this be it? TIA.

6 is a little old for this type of behavior. I would definitely take her to the Doctor and pay attention for underlying sources of stress.

I think its because you gave her a hard time about making a funny hat. Now she is traumatized. I hope your proud of yourself

My hands get REALLY dry in the winter. Get some Desitin (?) ointment for her hands and put in on as often as you can and, if possible, put it on her hands before bed and put thin gloves on her hands before bedtime. And hydrate her as much as you can. Water, water, water!

Kids do the craziest things! She is most likely stressed but it could be because she put the green palydoh in the red can. I wouldn't worry to much momma. :huggy:

Good idea. I do have some of that ointment called Bag Balm. That stuff is great for really dry areas. Maybe I'll try some of that tonight and have her wear the cotton gloves over top.

:yeahthat: I think she is stressed about something, seems something is bothering her. It sounds like a nervous habit. You might wanna contact the Center For Chilren. Hope things work out ok. Extra hugs! :huggy: :huggy: :huggy:
