Need some advice

I have a neighbor that has a 5-6 mon.puppy on the large size..I understand they keep him crated.Last Fri. & then again last night they leave early and do not come in all night and this poor dog is a lone and crated.
There is family close by so no excuse for not having them check on this dog.
I went to them,the family last weekend and ask if they could call the owners or someone could check on the dog.I could hear him barking and rightfully so.I'm sure by 24 hrs.of not getting out to go to the bathroom he was miserable. I don"t know what to do next...But something has to be done for this dog.He has no life.Mon- Fri they come in late so maybe let the dog out and then its time for them to go to bed..so more down time for the dog..so on and so forth.Now its snowing so they might not get home at all today.They left out around 1ish yesterday...what would you do ? This is really breaking my heart...Please be nice ..I'm just trying to do the right thing..

Besides offering to go in and let the dog out, there is probably not much you can do. I have a neighbor that does the same thing with 2 very large dogs- he has been gone for 36 hours at a time. Animal Control cannot step in if the dog has shelter, food and water. They may be able to fine the owners if they are not up to date on shots or teh county license.
Makes you wonder why these people have this dog. Sounds like you care more about it than they do!

Thank you ..I have dogs myself. And would not be able to live with myself if I did not give them the best life I could.I agree why have a dog they are never there to enjoy it.
