Sure it is - if they were a smoker then it may have contributed to their lung cancer as in TWL's wife's smoking may have contributed to Faith's possible low birth weight. How can you separate the two?

Easy, you smoke you get lung cancer, shame on you.. but it's your body, your choice to make yourself sick.

You smoke when you are pregnant you make the baby sick.. KNOWINGLY make the baby sick.. or at the least less healthy, the baby has no choice. I think it should be a form of abuse.
