Neighbor’s new dog

So I have these neighbors and they are different, well trashy (always leaving toys and trash in my yard) and they just got a large dog, that the kids are taking care of. I have two medium sized dogs in a fenced in yard, both dogs are licensed, well behaved, and well cared for. Here’s the issue, they are allowing there dog to come up to my fence and torment my dogs, it’s a privacy fence so it just a bunch of barking but still! They do not have it on a leash, nor do they have a fence. What can I do? The people aren’t the friendliest. Thanks all. :ohwell:

Get a Mastiff and loosen a couple boards?

Or, pound a whole ####load of nails through the fence so their dog learns quick to keep a little distance?

I'd keep all the toys left in my yard hostage, for starters....

I would call the animal warden we have a leash law here in maryland. I would tell them what is going on and I bet they come out and atleast issue them a fine for not having the dogs on a leash.

No leash law in your own yard, fence or not. Unless the dog leaves the neighbors yard, it doesn't apply.

If your yard is fenced, how does their toys and trash get in it?

Front / side yard that is not fenced?

Or kids throwing stuff over the fence. I used to get wiffle balls in my yard all the time. No fence, but they still would have ended up in my yard. I have other neighbors who have had toys thrown over their fences.

Wait outside with a garden hose and spray the pooch. Pretty soon the dog will get tired of getting sprayed or the owners will get tired of having a wet dog.

Sorry I should clarify, just my back year is fenced, and all the crap in my yard goes in the trash. With my luck if I sprayed the dog with water, it might be his only bath. Lol. Keep the ideas coming, I like the nails. :yahoo:

I like the water idea, but would be leary about doing the nail thing. It's not the dogs fault it's not being properly trained or taken care of. My two always bark through our fence with our neighbors dog. I'd be worried that one of their dumb kids would get hurt and then they would try and sue you.

You recognize dark satiric humor when you see it, obviously!

I have stop strips in the street in front of my house for speeders too!

Unfortunately I know some people who would actually do the nail thing without thinking twice.

OMG, my dog would LOVE it if the neighbors started spraying him with a hose. :roflmao:

I thought about him today. The kids were playing in the sprinkler and Elmer stood looking at the sprinkler and was very shocked when it hit him.

If close enough you can mix listerine and water and spray it at the dog. I have never done thisk, just can't think about doing it to them, but if bad enough I may. I have been told it doesn't harm them, but stings the eyes and makes them stop doing whatever.

Be very careful what you do if the dog is NOT on your property. Honestly, the best and simplest (if not the most PITA) solution is to simply put your dogs back in the house when the neighbors let theirs out.

I would keep my camcorder ready also, and film the dog whenever it is off the neighbors property. Once you get some good footage, call Animal Control. If they do nothing, send a letter to the Sheriff.

That, or mention to the neighbors that their dog is harassing your dogs.
