I remember when AOL bought Time Warner....wait, what??? How was that not the other way around???

Just goes to show that the dinosaurs refused to evolve, so now they get to be extinct.

Meanwhile, this irritates me because I was set with Paramount+ but now that Netflix is going to be flush with content I may have to revise..... I mean, for $100/year it's no biggie to have both, I'm just railing against the whole streaming racket because I, too, am a dinosaur.

So they were whining on the radio today about this Netflix deal, saying it's the end of theatrical releases. Movie theaters are dying anyway because it's more enjoyable to watch movies from your couch for a couple bucks. The guys on this radio show were like, "But it's more isolation, people won't get the experience of watching movies with other people!"

DUDE! That's one of the things people don't like about the movie theater: other people!

"What are young people going to do on dates if movie theaters go away??"

:lmao: No kidding, the radio guy actually said that. I had a Star Wars disturbance in the force moment, as if millions of voices cried out: "Netflix and chill!"

I ended up not seeing Wicked 2 on my birthday, and I meant to see it on Tuesday $5 movie day and didn't do that either. It will be streaming in January and that's soon enough. The Housemaid is being released here in the next week or two and I'd like to see it, so I put a reminder to add it to my Amazon watch list when it becomes available to stream.

If they want me to go to the movie theater they need to make it outdoors and drive-in, or at least with a proper dining experience like Alamo Draft House.

All those channels have nothing but movies and as far as I have seen no real time TV

My wife wanted to watch some of the shows on Paramount+ 2 yrs ago. I did a free week and they don't tell you you need to cancel after or get charged for the year. They offered a deal with ads that was reasonable and we could also watch some CBS shows if we missed them. Then they bought Showtime. I saw some of those shows previews and thought I'd like to watch them. Wrong, its another account that costs more.

So Netflix will likely do the same. Either way the cost per month/year will go up to pay for the merger.

That's how free trials have worked since at least 1992, probably before that with gym memberships.
Yes. I worked at a health club in the mid 80's and people had three business days to cancel their memberships. It didn't always work out that way. And no, I wasn't in the sales department.

As a teenager I convinced my dad to use his credit card for a free trial of Prodigy on the first computer I ever had, then when we couldn't figure out how to cancel he was ready to kill me. They purposely made it nearly impossible to cancel.

That's why I don't subscribe to "free" trials. People would cancel their credit cards in order to get out of their memberships that the club would "forget" to cancel in the 3 day window. I learned that lesson very early just by watching the shady sh!t that was pulled.

Yes the same with Amazon and their Prime. Although upon notice they did wipe it out.
I believe Mafia lawyers write up those contracts.
