Congratulations! I am sure you have done research, but if you have any questions about the special needs of chis, let me know. Java, my chi turns 10 years old this July and weighs in at 2 and 1/2 pounds.

The puppy is a her and her name is Holly. We got her from my mother in Oklahoma. Holly is my little girl's birthday present.

Since chihuahuas are so small they are easily picked up, and easily dropped. People think they are like cats and will land on their feet. Not so. Chis are usually skittish around kids as they sense the out of control thing. Do make sure that proper handling takes place. Always support her butt when you when you lift her with both hands, Many of their bones are like toothpicks or fingers and are very fragile. I am sure your Mother has told you all this if she has chis herself. Just watching out for the little guys (and girls)...
