Also, my Blazer now shimmies and vibrates down the road.

what is going on?

Without trying to sound like a jerk, don't ask us, just take it right back to the mechanic and tell him to make it right.

your truck is telling you to take it back to that mechanic immediately. Could be any number of things, from a poorly installed pad to a defective piston in the cailper. Or even a bad brake line. So, take it back in, and precisely explain whats going , and when. If you can, try and pin down which wheel is acting up.

After a drive, walk around holding your hands towards (BUT NOT TOUCHING) the wheels. You most likely will notice one that is giving off a lot more heat than the others. And the smell will be strongest there also.

yeah.... I'm a woman and I'm blonde... I get taken advantage of by mechanics alot so I wanted to go in armed with knowledge so they will think twice about trying to pull one over or blowing me off... hopefully...

Never try to tell a mechanic what you think might be wrong, because they will fix that problem instead of diagnosing the actual problem. Just take it back and tell them "My vehicle wasn't doing this before you fixed it, so please find out what the problem is and fix it."

On new brakes, the buring smell CAN be normal, as the pads seat onto the rotors or the drums. If you smell it all the time then there is a problem.

If there is a shimmy or a pronounced shake when you apply the brakes, then they probably didn't do a run out and align the rotors (or it could be uneven wear, unbalanced tires if it shimmy and shakes ALL the time).

But, as said above, I'm just speaking from experience and am not a mechanic. If you don't trust the people that did the work, take it to someone else that will check it for you, and then go back to the people that did the work with your list of issues.

My best guess would be a sticking caliper or badly installed brake pad, but without seeing it, it might be a few other things as well.

For this one, you don't need to know or be taken advantage of. Just tell them it wasn't doing this before, it's doing it now, fix it. You probably have a statement with a warranty, check it so you at least know your rights.

Your hair color has nothing to do with it. Only YOU allow yourself to be taken advantage of.

I know someone who goes to the Dr. and does that.
