Milk chocolate, peanut and peanut butter are the stalwart M&M's flavors, but soon there will be a new option vying for your taste buds' attention.

For the first time in the 75-year history of the brand, the candy company is embracing a caramel filling that will become a permanent member of the M&M family.

I got into that with a friend. I always pronounce it carmel. She insists on caramel. Then a cooking show came on TV with high profile celebrity chefs, and every one pronounced it carmel.

***Carmel is usually a place name while caramel is a tannish-brown sugary sweet food made as a result of the caramelization of sugar.
