Watch the new Casino Royale trailer...

Seems to be outstanding entertainment! To be honest, I've never been the world's biggest James Bond fan (big enough to name my favorite Bond stars, though: Sean Connery and Timothy Dalton), so I don't mind they cast a blond actor as President Kennedy's favorite spy, nor do I mind the fact this is less gadget and sex-based than Die Another Day (which I loathed). They seem to have hit an action home run with this new James Bond epic. I'll definitely see it at the theatre this November...

Hopefully other Bond fans give him a shot. He's an outstanding actor, as proven by such films as Layer Cake, Steven Spielberg's Munich, and Road to Perdition.

Plot Summary for
Casino Royale (1967)
Sir James Bond, a spy from the old school (a good spy is a pure spy) is called back to service by the death of "M" and the imminent collapse of civilization. The opposition tries to compromise him, but even as nubile young agents are thrown at him, he remains above it all. Going beyond parody to sillyness, every agent is renamed James Bond, 007 to confuse the enemy, including Woody Allen who plays, Little Jimmy Bond.

This was the worst one in my opinion.

I don't consider the '60s Casino Royale an official James Bond film, the way I don't consider Repossession part of the Exorcist franchise. They're comedy spoofs.

I'm sure a serious, action-based Casino Royale (which this new film is) will be great.

That was NOT a James Bond film. The Bond film for 1967 was You Only Live Twice, starring Sean Connery. :yay:

Of the "official" Bond films, the worst are Die Another Day and Live and Let Die. My favorites are Goldfinger, Licence to Kill, and The Living Daylights.

My favorite is Goldfinger (1964). My second favorite is From Russia With Love (1963), which my mom thinks is one of the dumbest ones ever made.

Even if he is a "sissy" in real life, it certainly didn't stop him from playing a bad-ass drug dealer in Layer Cake or a stone-cold Israeli assassin in Munich. I'm extremely confident he'll be able to pull off playing James Bond.

I'm just hoping this movie is better than Die Another Day, one of the lousiest movies I've ever seen at the theatre.

Speedy...you need to talk to my oldest, he is a Bond fan. He has everything 007.

I'm mostly a Bond-Connery fan. He was the best, IMO.

:offtopic: I saw your Dad today cruising down 4 in his hotrod. Oh, and I never got those pictures. :buttkick:

I'm gonna judge for myself. He may not look like James Bond, but he damned well looks like what I think a *SPY* should look like.

Come on man this was a spoof!! I thought Peter Sellers was hilarious in this one.

Now the new one. I heard he kisses another guy in it!!! Now I'm no homophobe but this would gross me out!!

Seeing as Casino Royale's rated "PG-13," I highly doubt there will be a shot of full frontal male nudity in the film, so moviegoers won't get the chance to see what had Dame Judi raving. :lmao:

I also highly doubt there will be a same sex kiss. The studio(s) wouldn't want to generate homophobic controversy, the kind which (sadly) plagued the brilliant Brokeback Mountain. "Gay Bond" gags would overshadow the movie itself.

This is now on DVD. I'd definitely recommend it. It's, in my opinion, the best James Bond movie ever and Daniel Craig is the best actor to star as Bond ever. An action-suspense masterpiece.

Sorry, but I just can't get passed his appearance. He does not look like a James Bond; not handsome at all.
