I have a 2 1/2 year old boxer boy who has just recently developed a new chewing habit...ON OUR FURNITURE !! I'm concerned because he hasn't been crated during the day in over 6 months and this has never been a problem?? I'm wondering if this is due to the passing of Chloe, my other boxer, who he has never been without. She's been gone almost 2 weeks now and just yesterday, came home to a chewed up footboard !!!!!!!??? Am I reading too much into it to think it's some sort of "ACTING OUT?" My next step is back in the crate :-( while at work.

Yep! You know, after the first sentence I figured it was anxiety due to the loss of his pal.

When my Golden died several years ago, his Lab buddy became physically sick. It lasted for a week or so and there was nothing medically wrong with him.

Boxers are very sensitive dogs..I'm sure he's very confused and sad. Poor guy..you may have to go back to the crate...but he might really need a friend since he's never been without one.

THANK YOU !! I appreciate your thoiughts on this!! I know people tell you to wait and not get another dog/puppy right away but we are working on a "pal" for him as I'm sure he's feeling a little loss, as we all are !! I will probably go back to the crate for a while.

My boxer is almost 8 years old and he still chews things. I can leave him alone in the garage for 5 minutes and he'll have torn into a box that he managed to get off a shelf. It must be in their genes.

Thank You for the offer, but I'm looking to get a puppy from a breeder in NC (family) who has a runt that she cannot show...
I will gladly take the runt :) !!!
