I recently acquired a 3 year old pit bull. He is very friendly, happy, and loving dog. Well, what I wanted to know is if anyone can give me a starting point as to where I can go get adoption papers on him so that I can take him to get groomed?

You don't need adoption records, you need his medical records. If they weren't given to you when you go the dog, you need to take him to the vet, get him registered and up to date on all his shots.

Thanks, While waiting for someone to reply. I looked up where I could get him up to date on his shots and I found clinic days that certain organizations hold throughout the year. I didn't mean getting adoption papers, I meant getting a license for him. People don't take to kind to pit bulls because of all the newspapers and articles about how they can be bad, but he's a really good dog and I just want to have everything that I need so no one can say anything or try to take him away.

They can't take him away here unless he actually shows that he's a dangerous animal, which he isn't. Some states/cities have laws against it, but here it's just sometimes in a lease, that's about it.

That's all you need. Just make sure he's got all his shots, keep a record, and pay for his registration at that time.

Have you had the dog to a vet since you got him? That would the FIRST thing you should do.

Is he on heartworm preventative? Is his rabies shot current?

No, Im trying to get that all in order now. I've had him for about 6 months now and I live around older people and they are so afraid of him, even thought he doesn't even leave the yard, and they have been calling the animal catcher on me. They came out, but the guy told me that he was fine and he did not seem like a threat so he did bother him. I checked out some organizations who hold clinics throughout the year for rabies shots and every thing else he needs, so hopefully I'll have everythink I need soon.

BEFORE you take him around ANYONE (pets or humans), you really need to get him to a vet.

6 months and not up to date on shots?

Well, if he doesn't have a rabies shot and something should happen, they will remove the doggie from your home. I'm just trying to help you. Better he has long nails and stinks and is able to stay in your home.

That's fine, get him updated...
Pls be a responsible pit owner...they have a bad enough rap as it is, take whatever precautions you need to take to ensure he lives a good life and stays on the right track - being a responsible owner is the best thing you can do for this breed. You can get plenty of pit info here- Pit Bull Rescue Central . Good luck w/ new addition.
