Battle Ship is handy for those morning trips to the bathroom
Waze is a great Traffic / Navagation App - user updated to the min - great police here functionality
various news sites have apps for their portal
you can probably find something for you workouts

Facebook, Twitter ... Skype ... Yahoo Messagner [although that is a battery hog]
multiple Amazon.com apps
Kindle App - I read 6 books before I got an iPad ...
you can Jailbreak it, and tether it to your laptop

It's definitely a fun phone.. I'm too green to really talk about it and I've kept it pretty simple so far, but it's been just a week. It's great right now, but it's the newest technology... 6 months from now, it'll be obsolete - then again, it's an Apple, they seem to hold their value from what I've seen/heard.

Take her to the VzW store. Let her play with the iPhone 5 and Galaxy SIII. I pondered between the 2 of them. I chose the Galaxy SIII and couldn't be happier. I have several friends that iPhones and most of them have had issues and are not happy with them.

Has she considered a tablet instead? Keep the dumb phone for talking/texting and have the tablet for games, music, reading, etc...
