I never even notice these things. I mean, I see them but they don't register as anything unusual. Someone - maybe it was Greg - pointed out that there are a number of interracial couples on commercials lately. So I paid attention and damned if there aren't. Commercials I'd seen any number of times, and suddenly I "see" them.
Remember when the media used to make an enormous deal every time a commercial or TV show depicted a couple that was outside the same race, opposite sex norm?

It's a bit more than most folks would consider appropriate between family members. You can see they were parsing this thing very carefully.

I guess they are trying to be both politically correct and broaden their marketing. Can't say as I blame them for the later. Marketing for diamonds has always been aimed at the males, assuming the recipient of the gift is female.
Saw one commercial where the woman is proposing to the guy. I'm sure two woman and two men is now part of the "romance" of the stone.
Having a cartel control the supply, and puhng up demand keeps the price and profits high.
