No 'Real ID' appointments open in New Jersey as residents sound off: ‘Get with the times, NJ'

New Jersey shows zero Real ID appointments open as the identification will be required starting May 7 in order for U.S. air travelers to fly domestically. Some AAA branches offer Real ID services.

Okay, so Real ID has been a thing for....20 FREAKING YEARS!!!!! Why are Jersey residents just now freaking out and desperate to get compliant?? 20 FREAKING YEARS!!

One would think they'd have gone Real ID when they renewed their driver's license. Does Jersey not do that, driver's license renewal?

Same.....had to take the bc and ssn card up to the mva to get the new id.....

I got my RealID when I renewed. Then got a note that I had to get a new one because they screwed up the required support docs. Gave them the exact same docs again and they were fine.

I was lucky. One time in with proper documents and out the door with a compliant license in under 30 minutes.

Friends on face in PA are going through it, they have to pay and extra $30 to get Real ID. MD have been issuing Real ID since 2016 and most of us just brought in the docs when we renewed.

It was set for 2021 but you know, the Wuhan. There was a screw up back in 2019, they issued Real IDs without scanning the paperwork, those people had to come back.

My wife was one of those recalled, I think the longer licensed were overlooked and assumed to at least showed their birth certificate when they got their license. Ruling came out they had to be scanned.
