My first pet was a mouse and then I had hamsters (short hair and teddy-bear)
My kids would have them now, but the cats would eat them.
They are both great pets, but not together.

I've had hamsters, gerbils, mice, and rats while I've owned cats. It was never a problem. :shrug:
Heck, my cats are scared of my rats...

Mine are too! Although I would never turn my back on them if I had the rats out playing. I usually let the rats run up and down the cat tower. Makes the cats go banana's when I put the rats away. They are all climbing up and down the tower to try and find the rat!
