Honestly, am I the only one who hopes Mamdani goes scorched earth on that city?
I admit I'm a Socialist at heart. I don't like it that a select few can blow a billion $$$ on a freaking pleasure boat while children live in squalor and starvation. It's just that the humans involved in administering it are always filthy crooks and it ends up being a few elite wealthy, and everyone else impoverished. It's a utopian theory that never works in real life and I'm aware enough to understand that, even as I'd like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony.
And I feel like if I know that Socialism doesn't work in practice, everyone should know it.

I kinda hope so too, but the communist/socialist/Muslim creep will slowly take over the surrounding areas, and eventually the east coast will be unrecognizable.
It's already under way, and I don't see a way of stopping it short of a full civil war.
I think if they feel enough pain, surrounding areas will see that and go, "Uh, no..." and give up their Socialist dreams. The problem is the propaganda media - you know they'll polish that turd and not report what's really going on.
I sure hope people wise up soon.
Not really true. My friends and I used to go in frequently around Thanksgiving and Christmas, and during the summer. Javits Center for car and boat shows. Great food in Chinatown. Used to be a decent trip, never had any problems, walked around at 3am without any fear.
That said.... I wouldn't attempt it today.

I used to love NYC, went as often as I could. Never found NYers to be particularly rude, and many times they were helpful without me having to ask. Standing there with a map, someone would usually stop and point me in the right direction.
