Hmmm. All electric. So...saddle up to a wind generator and charge their batteries?
That's what several of the companies involved in wind farm operations have been trying to move toward, yes. In this case, it's the mother ship that I assume has the power connection to the offshore grid. The little crew vessels will use "hot swappable" batteries supplied by Shift (Canadian).
So we've got a Brit designer that's headquartered in Japan, working with a Brit shipyard on Isle of Wight, to built the prototype/first vessel, using battery technology from a Canadian company and stabilization technology from a US company to support a Japanese shipyard building vessels for a Japanese offshore wind farm company. With the propulsion system most likely from a German company.
