look into windows 8, i've heard people are very unhappy with it because it doesn't have a start menu (although an app can fix that), among other things. It sounds like people have been getting Windows 7 still. I don't know enough about Windows 8 to say anything one way or the other, but try to do your homework.

Coworker says the learning curve on 8 is rather high, though says after learning he is able to complete actions much quicker.
